👋 Hei!
So Upcount has been growing despite the codebase being unmaintained and the last release was at the end of 2020. The software still works with some occasional exceptions.
I tried multiple times to upgrade Electron but the barrier of upgrading such an outdated codebase is quite big. So I found Tauri and actually loved it from the start. I'm wrapping up on making a version 2 of Upcount that will be better then ever.
Features
💾 - Bundle size will decrease from ~100Mb to 5Mb a 20x decrease with less memory usage
📒 - SQL based database (sqlite) for improved data integrity & automated data migrations between versions
💫 - Written using React
🎩 - Still use Antd for all the components
📦 - Local first
📘 - Backupable & transferable
The release will include fixes for the current open issues like Archiving contacts etc.
Roadmap
🕐 - Timetracking
👥 - Collaboration & Hosted DB
I'd be happy to receive your feedback on this or any feature requests that you might have put off of posting here because Upcount might have looked unmaintained and forgotten. It's not - there are plans to make it the best freelancer option for tracking time and invoicing your clients available.
I will be open sourcing the code base within 2 weeks and make a more public announcement about it.
