This must have existed for a long time. @SaraAAVSO noticed it and I have confirmed it.

Load a dataset with fainter-thans, such as U Sco, select Fainter Than series in Light Curve Control dialog, select a fainter-than observation in the plot, switch to the observation list and notice the lack of "<" to the left of the magnitude value.
