I think it is easier when you would use a cheap rf receiver with a remote rather than program your own remote with a rf reiceiver and transmitter.
This way you can easily replace the remote for any onther one when you lose one.
The cheap receivers already have a way to learn the new remote.
This way you also can use more than one remote at the same time (for spare).
I added some code to make this possible by adding fysicale buttons which can be connected to the chaep rf receiver
Also I added short and long presses, the long presses for Auto and Standby:
