Open OnDemand system provided by Aalto CS does not have a browser. Opening http(s) hyperlinks in IntelliJ leads to a error dialog informing user about the lack of a default browser.

For the normal user workflow, this is perhaps most crucial when clicking "What is my token?" link in the token dialog. The link (that would normally take user to the A+ profile page) cannot be copied or even seen by the user.

The same applies to other links, such as "view feedback in the browser" and 3rd party library attributions.

Possible solutions:

  • easy: add URLs as copyable text in the UI
  • perhaps better: when the link is clicked, check if the browser opened. If not, show a customized fallback information (the URL in the copyable form and possible extra instructions).

A browser has been added to the system (to specifically address this problem). So, this issue may have become a non-issue now. I leave the ticket open for a few days for possible comments. If nothing new arises, this can be closed.
