ArcadeDB distribution ?

Bonjour,

First of all I would like to thank you about the so good job you are doing by having this project "open source" .. and keep it with an excellent quality and support.
I would like to install ArcadeDB on premise, but I could not find any "distribution" (as mentionned in the ArcadeDB documentation).
I have found source package (.zip, .tar.gz). But is there anything to download ?
If not, how to build ArcadeDB from sources ?

Hello,

Is there documentation available for how to build from scratch using the tar.gz and .zip downloads? I have been trying to build on a Mac and have hit three issues:

• The need for a 'build number' (and a crash if it does not exist), which I resolved by modifying the code so that '1' was returned (hard-coded), although this is almost certainly not the best approach
• The fact that reflective access to certain methods in the java.util.concurrent library is now prohibited by the latest java compilers, which I resolved by adding a command-line flag when invoking Maven
• A failure due to an 'Unsupported class file major version' when building gremlin (during the unit tests), which I have not resolved.

Some of this may be due to my unfamiliarity with maven. Rather than submit these as separate issues - which I can do if it will help - I want to do due diligence and review any documentation that exists.

Hi John, what Java version are you using? You should be able to build ArcadeDB with mvn clean install -DskipTests.

Thanks for this. I have just tried the '-DskipTests' flag, and the build completes successfully. It's the end of the day here, so tomorrow I'll press ahead further now that I can get the build complete.

For now, I'd like to understand the behavior better (and complete the unit tests). Your question is on the mark: There are several versions of Java on my machine, and it's not always clear which one is being used for what. I have modified the pom.xml files for the top-level and for 'engine' in attempts to control which version is used, but I still can't tell. From what I understand of this kind of error, one version of java must be being used to compile, while a different version is being used to run; but I can't tell which version is being used to run (it's part of the 'surefire' plugin, but I'm not experienced with maven so I don't know how to control this or even diagnose it)

Macs do funny things; there is no 'JAVA_HOME', though I can 'export' one:

There is a known bug with Gremlin and Java 16+: #17. Try using Java11 or 15 instead.
