  1. Update library to latest version
  2. Fix imports and implementations related to the library
  3. In case the library is no longer maintained, replace with an alternative and update all implementations
  4. Alternatively update the library itself to host as another open source solution

which python version are you using? because from python 3.3+ onwards it is a part for python standard library.

The project was created with python 2.7
The task for upgrading to latest supported version is in progress.
In the meantime, this ticket expects to resolve any code issues that may arise due to this upgrade.
