Impacted plugin

Jetpack

What

Allow customers to reset the importer after a failed subscriber import and try again, without contacting support for help.

How

We have a 'Reset Importer State' button in BRC – could that same tool be surfaced for users after a failed import?

Frustrated customer example: #9168290-zen

(in their odie chat:)

I started a manual import that has failed and cannot start another. Can you please clear the blockage?
I started a manual import that has failed and cannot start another. Can you please clear the blockage? It was for 1 email address I beieved to be valid.

(in their support feedback:)

Give me a button to clear failed imports, and I'll do it myself.

Discussed in p1734035865177739-slack-C06PZC1RR5F a bit, and we were chatting about possibly needing to still dissuade customers from just using the subscriber import as a free list-cleaning tool by repeating the import over and over. Some ideas we mentioned about that:

  • recommend finding/using a list-cleaning service in the failed import messaging; when customers contact support about a failed subscriber import, support pretty much always advises them to do this
  • limiting repeat efforts to 3 to create a reason for the customer to clean up their lists, instead of just trying over and over
