Geeqie version [geeqie --version]: Geeqie 2.5+git20241221-a0d1c068 GTK3
Describe the bug
When working with grouped .jpg and .raf (Fuji RAW) the metadata for the JPG is also written to the .raf.xmp instead of .jpg.xmp
To reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
Settings Metadata: Enable Step1 with option image.ext.xmp active for darktable compatibility
Settings File Filters: .jpg;%raw;.xmp and allow sidecars for .jpg
Group images image1.raf and image1.jpg
Change metadata of the group (Did I understand the workings right?)
Click Save Metadata button
Expected behaviour
Write .jpg to .jpg.xmp and .raf to .raf.xmp in the same step
Screenshots
Screenshot shows the result of following the steps above:
If I ungroup the same set of images and use Show File Filters to uncheck Class Raw, then regroup the remaining files (.jpg and .jpg.xmp), the Metadata gets written to the right file:
Additional context
I would really like to use the .jpg in a group with the raw-file for a fast first culling round. The embedded image in my .raf is only 1920x1280 which is shit for judging focus and detail. Hence the grouping with .jpg. Also I would like to have permanent info written to the image sidecar in this step, to transfer my work to other software. My hope is that metadata can be written to both .jpg.xmp and .raf.xmp in the same step.
Searching pointed me to this bug: #147 which I have read and tried playing around with different settings in File Filter settings, but I couldn't make it work.

I just found that the "Write Metadata" works as expected for new images. New images meaning, they haven't been imported to Darktable yet and have no sidecars. So Geeqie creates JPG.xmp and .RAF.xmp for each image - just as expected.
So to correct my bug report: It seems the issue is only present in Groups of ".raf + .jpg + .xmp +.xmp". Sorry for the confusion.
