First step is to have stable explicit EDMFX simulations for our canonical LES test cases (Bomex, GABLS, Dycoms RF01, Rico, TRMM, etc). The target timestep is short. The goal is to demonstrate that we can handle the area fraction issues at the updraft top.
Second step is to switch to using the implicit solver.
Inputs
Entrainment/detrainment closure that assures stable solutions.
Advection scheme that preserves updraft area fraction monotonicity
Implicit solver for EDMFX
Results and Deliverables
Demonstrate the solutions for the canonical LES test cases with 100s time step.
