Anyone get Platoon running?

Anyone successfully get Platoon running? I had to play around with the version I have a bit to get where I am now. Originally it had a subfolder layout. I moved all files to platoon.daphne and modified the framefile to look in ./ There are 2 mp4 video files, but only 1 (platoon.mp4) referenced in the framefile.

I see the following in the runcommand.log:

The VLDP ERROR : Did not find expected header. Is this mpeg stream demultiplexed?? error leads me to believe I need to something with the mp4 (not sure exactly what this means but I assume splitting into m2v and ogg), but not sure what would be the best tool to do so. Then I would need to modify the associated framefile to include the newly extracted m2v and ogg files instead of platoon.mp4.

Anyone know if I am on the right track?

Convert the mp4 to MPEG-2: See the details here on how to do that.

Then point the framefile to the .m2v not the .mp4.

You will probably want to replace all the peripheral/metadata files you have in the current platoon folder with the files from that same repository (platoon directory).

Show the log if still having issues 😉

@DirtBagXon once again you saved the day! The game is loading and working now (with the Sinden)!

My only gripe is the crosshairs are a little floaty compared to Mad Dog, Crime Patrol, etc. making it a bit tough right off the start (my first go at it the guys hiding in the wooden structure were a real pain to shoot), but I'm not sure anything can be done to correct that.

You could try swapping out one of the crosshair.png sprite files from maddog for a better fit.

I think there is a reason it was never 'officially' released 😁

I didn't know about that one. I will have to try and track it down. Thanks for the tip.

I was actually thinking to try to get actionmax going since I have it, but after reading through your install readme it sees that it struggles on Pi so maybe not worth the trouble.
