In some environments, e.g. at Arkitekskolan in Lund, the external C program cannot run due to lacking user privileges. When this happens the OS first presents an error message but then SU freezes as the plugin is unsuccessfully waiting for a converted file to appear. The current hack for avoiding the flashing command line window prevents the plugin from getting any feedback when the conversion fails.
