Reason: save space. I use Factorissimo to build minimalist bases in Space Exploration because I like to play with lots of enemies, so I can't expand much if I am to get anything done. I'ld like to fill my rockets using requester depots but there's a lot of resources hence a lot of requester depots
How ideally: I use filter chests mod, so I can split the supplier depot between multiple items by filtering their inventory, which the transporter drones don't seem to care, they fetch the items just as well. If I could use the request depot in the same way, have an inventory like the supplier, requests like a regular chest, and filter the available inventory, I'ld be a happy camper. It is very useful when loading rockets automatically not having one requester depot for every resource as there happens to be a lot of them
All these requester depots could be just 1 depot with filters on items which get read as requests. Realistically logistic warehouses have a diverse inventory. Imagine the space Amazon would take with one warehouse for each item :D https://ibb.co/t31D9Zm
Game's requester chest logistics seem to handle multiple requests without UPS isssues..
Other scenario: factorissimo with passive supply box output, sends resources by flying robots to nearest supply depot & request chest fillilng it, allowing the transport drone to do the long haul with bigger inventory size. Repeating this patterns means cramming the flying logistics easily in transport drones logistics for more efficient hauling, as it should be. With requester depots being identical in inventory to supplier depots, one could easily transport complex inventories across the base for whatever reason, which becomes especially usefull using factorissimo which can get tangled up interconnecting factories
