Hue state not reported when turned on by binding

I have a bunch of hue lights in my setup and have been finding that when I turn the lights on or off with a bound dimmer, the state is in most cases not updating to zigbee2mqtt. I recently switched from a conbee II as my coordinator to a Sonoff ZBdongle-E, and the problem seems to be worse (i.e., previously the state seemed to eventually update, now it seems to nearly never do so). Is there some reporting setting I need to set to fix this? I've googled and tried setting some things in the reporting settings, but among other difficulties it seems nothing I try to set actually "registers" successfully. Has anyone else seen, and fixed, this issue with hue devices?
