Detailed modelling of roles #190
Comments
From the workshop/discussion at the meeting: Additionally, there are generalisations of roles that may also depend on perspectives, such as consumer/producer of things, which is just about input/output of one actor in the chain. There are also restrictions on roles, i.e. what role someone can take is restricted by various things, including the context, i.e. what they do and what they produce. Roles should not violate such restrictions. --> implies restrictions or shapes? |
This will be followed up when we have the new dataset that will be released with deliverable 6.5. Also, this will be included in D3.2 in May. |
From the use case evaluation it is clear that a more detailed representation of roles is needed. We need to figure out how to do this, and whether or not we need several different alternative models or not.
Comment from the textile use case:
Is there a hierarchical structure defining roles within the ontology? In the industry, a common practice is to categorize these roles into three tiers: the brand, D1 manufacturer responsible for the shoe production, and D2 manufacturer - producers of components. These distinctions seem to be illustrated. However, we would like to underline the importance of this differentiation and of the clearly defined roles of actors.
