Discussion:
-
Connectivity Week debrief / actions
-
Most organizations that had interest in the hackathon had just participated in the DOE Apps for Energy challenge, which produced some fantastic ideas in support of Green Button. That took away a bit of the effort needed to participate in the CW hackathon, though, so it was decided not to hold it at this meeting.
-
Takeaway from CW and the GB presentations:
We're seeing a dispersion of capabilities in sources and uses of GB data. This calls out need for profiles and a test and certification suite and test tools, as we've been discussing for several months. This is getting more urgent because while small changes are not hard to make now, as time goes by and there are more implementations it will be harder and harder to make those changes, particularly for apps consuming the GB data. The sooner we define this profile the more impact it will have. We currently don't have an actual profile, we have CA utilities that agreed on a set of definitions, but we don't know if that has been uniformly implemented; people are starting to expose gas (SDG&E); so getting the source code tools to support it are important (this is tomorrow's openADE topic). We need the profiles defined and tools that support them.

Framework
The Spring project is almost to the point where we can send messages back and forth. First step was the initial implementation of abstract interfaces defined inside original data custodian and 3rd party. This is in the software base but not checked in to github yet. As soon as it is checked in we'll see a list of 'todo's. Probably best to go over collaboration diagrams in the ESPI artifacts. The current goal is to get to an operational level in the next month. For the next call would like to go over the initiation and response within the 3rd Party and Data Custodian.
Use Cases: Use case 11 is basically a Green Button use case in batch.
Discussion on how best to represent the basic GB use case in this context. Suggest we may extend the scope of the project to do that, and perhaps to add to the standard. -
PAP20
Currently developing a list of requirements for deliverables. Each of the boxes depicted on the PAP20 web site diagram represent a deliverable. “ESPI requirements” could include 'download my data' as part of those requirements, which would add one more oval, between Data Custodian and Retail Customer, to the use case diagrams. From a technology standpoint, implementing interfaces to support 'download my data' would be a small extension, and it enable ESPI and GB to reside in one package. Over the coming few weeks will have a series of sessions to capture PAP20 requirements. Will post results on the PAP20 web site. -
GB Parser
John and Marty will follow up with Peter as this is still a very needed capability. -
Profiles
John will produce a 'phase 1' xsd to get us started. This will cover electric. Those working with gas and/or water could begin adding to it for those sources. Once we get this up it might mitigate the fragmentation problem until we can finish the full implementation and get the go-ahead for further use of the full xsd.

google+ and youtube
Using google+ Pages Anne created an OpenESPI page at [https://plus.google.com/u/0/b/110424956072134977287/110424956072134977287/about] (https://plus.google.com/u/0/b/110424956072134977287/110424956072134977287/about). Now need to create the youtube channel. Before this, though, we need to decide which accounts to use for this and to most likely create some new accounts specifically for OpenESPI for these outward facing sites. Anne and John to discuss during the week to decide on accounts and other details. -
kickstarter.com
John created an initial project representation for OpenESPI, fundable thorugh kickstarter.com to promote public funding of the OS project. Received response from Kickstarter that we must be focused on the arts, so am in conversation with them on how we still might fit into their model.
