Installed Edge is Version 118.0.2088.46 (Official build) (64-bit)

I have the conviction that the icon used for hiding and showing the debugger panel is just opposite to its action and its tooltip.

Here, the Icon is pointing in the left direction, however panel is closing in the opposite direction.

and when the tooltip says Show debugger, but pointing towards the edge of the screen.

Thanks for filing this issue @ParamjotSingh5. The icon is, indeed, backwards! Let me make sure this item is on our dev team's backlog so they can go and fix it.
