This isn't something I plan to jump into right now but I thought I'd go ahead and ask while it was on my mind. How would you feel if I were to port some/most/all of this mod into individual mods that could be used with MelonLoader?

This would line up with what modders are doing with RCG2 and I personally feel is a better way than swapping full assemblies. Might also remove the need for their to be separate Steam and GoG versions. If nothing else, I am looking for projects from time to time and would like to gain experience working with MelonLoader.

Go ahead, don't hesitate to do it! I don't mind, quite the opposite actually. :D

How is it going? :D

I ended up spending a lot more time on River City Girls 2 mods than I anticipated, trying to work around its rollback system and the many weird redundancies of its asset management. I had to remake substantial portions of those mods when the first major patch went out, because it changed a lot of how that stuff worked, while still keeping things weird. Then mod scene itself died out when broader interest in the game died out.

My proposal here was meant to be a warm up exercise that would provide something useful. I still think it would be useful but I don't need the warm up and I consider most of my time modding RCG2 to have been a waste, due to people losing interest in the game while it was being rewritten for months after release.

It's something I might still do if no one else beat me to it, but it would probably take a major DLC or RCG3 announcement, with some assurance that mistakes from RCG2 have been learnt from, to remotivate me.
