- need for standardized missing values from CCPP framework to use in CCPP physics?
- follow-up with NRL
- should the framework dictate the values or can the host model set it?
- for integers, Steve found that
huge()
is the only reasonable value - the framework can do that, should we have a new module for it
- do we need multiple standard names, one for each missing value depending on type and kind?
ccpp_missing_value_real_kind_phys
ccpp_missing_value_integer
- ... ?
- Dom or Steve to create an issue on the ccpp-framework GitHub for further discussion
- Ligia and Laurie talked to Louisa; it will take more time to arrange transferring funds from NRL to DTC
- thus it needs to go from NRL to NCAR directly; Steve started discussing this at CGD
- What about more complex conversion rates - precipitation rates to fluxes?
- This is not a unit conversion, but a derived variable calculation (will become available in
cap_gen.py
)- will require clear documentation on what variables are, what the meaning of "wet" is etc.
- the framework can then use manually built, specific functions to perform conversions when a requested variable isn't provided, but enough variables are available to compute it
