The changelog for this one is huge. Most of the changes are related to technical stuff, but the first things are gameplay-related.
The reason this update took so long is mainly due to a large downtick in freetime, and making sure Datafixers were available, meaning you can take your old worlds up to 1.21 without anything major changing.
While datafixing is implemented, it is still experimental. You might lose item data when updating. Please do report these issues on GitHub if you find them.
This is an experimental rework trying to make the Mythril Drill more intuitive to use. Feel free to let me know what you think of these changes (preferrably via the Discord server).
- Drill no longer needs to be activated
- Fuel is no longer consumed over time
- One fuel is consumed per block broken
- Increased max fuel capacity: 1000 -> 4000
- Fuel per Morkite: 10 -> 20
- Increased invisible durability reduction: 30% -> 60% chance of ignoring damage
- yes this has always been a thing while the drill is active
The upgrades also got the following changes:
- Golden Luck Bonus: 1 -> 2 Luck
- Golden Luck Gold Drop chance: 2.5% -> 3.33%
- Aqua Affinity Air: 24 -> 60 ticks air restored when mining an ore
- Regrowth: Will slowly increase fuel (NEW)
BUG - The Golden Luck Upgrade might be lost on updating from 1.20.x worlds!
- Palladium Armor now grants Burning Time reduction (25% per piece)
- Combustion now increases Burn Time by 50% when applied
- Note that this doesn't increase burn times, but effectively it removes fire protection from you
- The Spiked Helmet ability (on the Legendary Banglum Helmet) was removed
- Engrained Prometheum was changed to the following:
- Overgrown threshold is now 1200 durability
- Damage Bonus: +1 while overgrown (+2 if double the threshold)
- Armor Bonus: +1 while overgrown (+2 if double the threshold)
- Toughness Bonuses: +1 while overgrown (+2 if double the threshold), and +1 if the armor cannot be unequipped (I.E. Curse of Binding)
- Increased Tidesinger Water vision: 25% -> 30%
- Sweeping using a Royal Midas Gold Sword now correctly drops Raw Midas Gold
- Slightly decreased the effect Fortune has on Banglum Ores: 8% -> 7% (per level)
As always with newer versions of Minecraft the tags had to be updated. These are now data-driven, meaning they are generated with code. This should make them faster to update, but also means there might be some holes where some items are missing from tags where they should be present. Make sure to report any issues you find with these, should you feel like anything is missing or broken.
Some specific tag changes:
- Added the
mythicmetals:mineable/mythril_drill
tag, which controls what the Mythril Drill can effectively mine- By default this includes
mineable/shovel
andmineable/pickaxe
, but now other mods/datapacks can change this
- By default this includes
- Added tags for all various Mythic Metals equipment (tools and armor)
- Added tags for raw materials, storage blocks, specific tool types, ores, nuggets, and armor
- Added/used tags for enchantments which affect Banglum Ores:
- The
mythicmetals:increases_mining_speed
will increase the chance of Banglum Ores exploding by 5% per level. Includes Efficiency by default. - The
c:increase_block_drops
will increase the chance of Banglum Ores exploding by 7% per level. Includes Fortune by default. - The
mythicmetals:silk_touch_like
will heavily reduce the chance of Banglum Ores exploding, by 45% per instance. Includes Silk Touch by default.
- The
- ... and a lot more, which you can view on GitHub yourself
The Ability system is deprecated, and is slowly being decoupled into different places.
The plan is to make them tag-driven where applicable, or otherwise use interfaces, attributes, or Item Components.
Item Components are a new feature in Minecraft which work similarily to NBT (which are now placed under minecraft:custom_data
).
Here is a list of the new Item Components:
- The Carmot Staff Component (
mythicmetals:carmot_staff_block
) holds the block inside the Carmot Staff, and handles the tooltips for it - The other Carmot Staff functionality, which were using NBT tags, were migrated to components. The changes are shown in this list:
Locked
->mythicmetals:locked
Is_Used
->mythicmetals:is_used
Encore
->mythicmetals:encore
- The Mythril Drill now uses two components: the Upgrade Component (
mythicmetals:upgrades
) and the Drill Component (mythicmetals:drill
)- The Upgrade Component is a list of items on an item. Comes with some helper methods which can be used to implement upgrade functionality. Supports sizing.
- The Drill Component essentially only holds fuel and handles tooltips related to it.
- The Tidesinger Component (
mythicmetals:tidesinger
) holds a string on what pattern the Tidesinger armor is using. Also appends a tooltip for the specific type - The Midas Gold Sword now uses the Gold Folded Component (
mythicmetals:gold_folded
), which handles its dynamic tooltip and the Midas Touch Ability - The Prometheum Component (
mythicmetals:prometheum
) tracks durability repaired, and generally helps with automatically repairing the items.- This component is applied to items in a tag (see below!)
The following abilities were migrated to Attributes:
- The Aqua Affinity ability now uses the
minecraft:player.submerged_mining_speed
attribute. - Carmot Shield now uses the
mythicmetals:carmot_shield
attribute. - The Depth Strider ability is now using the
minecraft:generic.water_movement_efficiency
attribute. - The Respiration and Better Respiration Abilities are now using the
minecraft:generic.oxygen_bonus
attribute.
The following abilites were migrated to tags:
- Bonus Fortune applies to all items inside the
mythicmetals:abilities/bonus_fortune
tag. - Bonus Looting applies to all items inside the
mythicmetals:abilities/bonus_looting
tag. - The Prometheum Component is attached to any items inside the
mythicmetals:abilities/auto_repair
tag. - Midas Touch, which drops Raw Midas Gold on kill on entity is now decided by the
mythicmetals:abilities/midas_touch
tag.
The Riptide ability was migrated to the RiptideTool
interface.
- Moved armor textures from the
minecraft
folders to themythicmetals
namespace. This will likely break MM-related resourcepacks! - New Stormyx tool and item textures (#248, thanks Azzyparas!)

You should be able to use your 1.20.x worlds with this update, and all the items should transfer correctly. There might be some bugs surrounding these, so make sure to report them.
Don't forget that Mythic Metals Decorations isn't available on 1.21 yet, so if you have any Chests, wait on upgrading till that is released.

You will lose a LOT of data upgrading your world from 1.20.x up to this version. I do still want to look into datafixing before the full 0.20.0 release, but for now this version acts mainly as a test version.
This is the initial port to 1.21. Full patch notes will be available for the proper launch.

Using the Aquarium Pearls you find sometimes when mining Aquarium, along with a handful of Coral, you can craft yourself a set of Tidesinger Armor or Tools.
This gear is superior to regular Aquarium in every way, as well as providing a direct swim speed increase.
The weapons (Sword and Axe) are special, as they come with Riptide 3!

- Increased the movement speed bonus to 10% per piece (from 8%)
- Increased Star Platinums damage bonus to 1 per piece (from 0.5)
- Celestium armor now inherits this damage bonus, meaning all Celestium Armor now has this damage bonus
- Changed the Celestium Sword texture to be more like a scimitar
A much more durable elytra. This is an armored elytra, meaning it gives you both armor and toughness. Not only does it have a movement speed bonus, it also speeds up your flying speed when using Firework Rockets by 20%
To comform with the Smithing Table rework you can now find and craft various Smithing Templates. These are found across the world, or crafted from certain materials. The following Smithing Templates were added:
- Unobtainium Alloy Upgrade
- Found in Ancient Cities
- Allows you to craft Metallurgium and Celestium Gear from Netherite and Diamond respectively
- Can be duplicated with Diamonds and Deepslate

- Found in Mineshafts
- Upgrades a Mythril Pickaxe, using a Durasteel engine, into a Mythril Drill

- Used to increase the gold counter on any Midas Gold Swords by 1
- Can be duplicated for nuggets once you have made one
- Carmot Staff
- Found in Village Temple chests. In vanilla this only spawns in Desert Village Temples
- Not to be confused with Desert Temples, which resemble pyramids. The structure you are looking for is more like a small sandstone castle
- Can be duplicated with Diamonds and Smooth Basalt
- Found in Village Temple chests. In vanilla this only spawns in Desert Village Temples
- Carmot Upgrade
- Crafted from Carmot, Diamonds, and Smooth Basalt
- Upgrades Kyber Gear into its Carmot equivalent

- Aegis Sword Upgrade
- Obtained from trading with Villagers, specifically Master level Clerics

- Can upgrade a Hallowed Sword to the Sword of the Aegis
NOTE - For 1.19.4 these templates don't exist, unless you enable the appropriate Experimental Features.
The Midas Gold Sword received a massive rework following this update. As specified above you now need to craft smithing templates in order to fold it, which makes maxing it slightly more expensive.
There is a rare chance when bartering with Piglins you can find an Enchanted Midas Gold Block. This can be crafted into a Royal Midas Gold Sword Upgrade, which lets you upgrade a maxed Gilded Midas Gold Sword one more time... Some even say it comes with a special ability which should help with obtaining more gold.
Are you ready to become the ultimate sword-smith?
The old drill crafting required a Smithing Table to upgrade the drill. You can now right-click Drill Upgrade Items onto it instead.
Items that can be inserted into the Mythril Drill have tooltip indicating that they can be put into the drill (NEW!).
The Golden Luck ability now requires an Enchanted Midas Gold Block. To compensate for this, it now gives you +2 luck (from +1).
Added the Prometheum Bouquet and the Carmot Stone, which replace the storage blocks when being used to upgrade the Mythril Drill (NEW!).
The Carmot Stone can be obtained rarely when mining Carmot ores (NEW!, 4% base chance of dropping, scales with Luck).
This update includes a small rework to Prometheum, rewarding the player if they give it some attention. To clarify, these are the current (and new) abilities of Prometheum:
- Regrowth
- Prometheum will automatically repair itself
- For armor, it must be equipped for this to take effect
- For tools, it must be in your main hand to repair itself
- The tools can also be in your off-hand (NEW!)
- Overgrown (NEW!)
- Regrowth will track how much durability has been restored
- Once you hit a threshold of around 2000 durability regained, the armor will gain additional stats
- The regrowth self-repair effect will also increase on tools
- Engrained (NEW!)
- If you apply Curse of Binding on the Armor, it will gain additional stats, as well as increase the self-repair effect more.
- Default axe damage has been increased (+2 over sword), meaning over half the axes in the mod got a buff!
- Celestium changes, see the Celestium Rework section
- Prometheum changes, see the Prometheum Rework section
- Osmium base damage: 2 -> 2.5
- Osmium mining level: 2 -> 3 (can now mine obsidian)

- Steel enchantability: 12 -> 11
- Durasteel durability: 800 -> 820

- Overhauled advancements heavily, adding all Smithing Templates and the Mythril Drill
- Remove the Lapis Block Carmot Staff ability durability damage when in off-hand
- Added a new loot condition:
mythicmetals:random_chance_with_luck
, which applies Luck directly to the chance modifier when breaking blocks/ores- While luck does have an effect on the older loot tables, it did not have a sufficient impact on drops. This patch should remedy this
- Added subtitles and sound events
- All armor now have custom equip sound events
- The Carmot Staff abilities, Mythril Drill, and Banglum Nuke now has sound events
- All of the above have subtitle support, accurately describing what sound is being played
- This means over time custom sounds for items can be added over time
- Resource pack creators can already change the sounds, if they modify the
sounds.json
- Changed the implementation of attribute modifications
- This is in an attempt to make them more compatible with mods that modify attributes
- Made the Star Platinum and Runite arrows dispensable
- Added a new Unique Block for the Carmot Staff - Note Block
- Made the "Rare Crafting Material" tooltip not use italics

- Attempted to fix an edge case where the Drill would not consume fuel
- Fixed an issue where world-gen would not work correctly (#146, only relevant to 1.19.3)
A bit late perhaps, but happy new year! I hope this massive content update is worth the wait.
If you are adding integration/making an addon which uses Mythic Metals, please update your compatibility.
This is due to major internal refactors and re-packages.
If you know any authors, please ask them to verify their integration still works.
- A new use for Mythril. Create a mining tool specialized for speed, letting you drill through the world like a hot metal baseball bat through snow.
- You can craft it in a Smithing Table by using a Durasteel Engine with a Mythril Pickaxe.
- Requires Morkite to be fueled. Right click Morkite onto it to fuel (like a bundle).
- The Drill has two upgrade slots, which can be used for the following upgrades:
- Prometheum - Regain Durability while holding the drill
- Aquarium Pearl - Acts as Aqua Affinity, and restores air when mining ores
- Stormyx Shell - Reduces the chance of Banglum Ores detonating by 102% - Warning, driller warranty is void for any case where the chance of a Banglum Ore explosion exceeds 99%
- Midas Gold - Randomly drop raw gold when mining ores
- Carmot - Same as Carmot tools - increased Fortune when mining
- Use Runite to craft more expensive, but more accurate arrows.
- These can be tipped like normal arrows, although modded potions will likely not have language keys for them.
- Use Raw Quadrillum to improve the shrapnel of the Banglum Nuke.
- This sacrifices its radius for double the damage.
- The Carmot Staff can now accept a large variety of blocks.
- When you use a block that has a unique ability, it will be reflected in its tooltip.
- For mapmakers, if you wish to create a Carmot Staff which is locked to a specific block, you can give yourself a staff with the following NBT:
/give @s mythicmetals:carmot_staff{StoredBlock:"blockid:here", Locked:1b}
- The Locked boolean will prevent anyone from modifying the staff.
- Added a Sponge Block Staff Ability, which clears water around you in a 12 block radius.
- Added stats for using the Hallowed Block.
- Removed the Runite Block ability, since the freeze didn't find the impact it needed.
- This rework introduces two new effects for Palladium Weapons: Heat, and Combustion.
- Apply Heat to your targets by combo-ing them with a Palladium tool, and once they are hot enough light them on fire to make them combust!
- This heavily increases the fire damage and duration of their burn. Use this to your advantage in places with low water (and use the Carmot Staff from above to remove it!).
- While combusting you are also vulnerable, meaning Fire Resistance will not make you fully immune against burning.
- The armor also received a buff, and will now provide two different attributes:
- Lava Swim Speed
- Vision in Lava.
- These do exactly as advertised: They reduce the fog from being in lava, and increases you speed while in lava, letting you move around much faster.
- Lightened the outline of the Orichalcum Sword slightly.
- Overhauled some helmet textures into crowns (Thanks Azzy!).
- Increased Star Platinum arrow damage (18 -> 24).
- Compat - Added Wormhole Special and Dark Morkite to Spectrum's Titration Barrel (Infused Beverage).
- Increased the default size of a Banglum Nuke (24 -> 32 blocks radius).
- Increased the vein sizes of Stormyx and End Starrite slightly.
- Increased the bottom spawn range of Aquarium (41 -> 31).
- Changed Durasteel Axe texture (thanks Painted!).
- Added a configurable HUD element which displays your Carmot Shield health.
- Removed Water Protection tooltip if Origins is not installed.
- Fixed a bug where the Banglum Nuke would not light with a dispenser on specific sides.
- Fix the Aegis Sword models in item frames and on ground.
- Fix Orichalcum Hammer not applying enchants correctly.
- Fix Origins compat not enabling itself.
- Fixed an oversight related to the Carmot Staff placing Bedrock, and a missing tooltip.
Increased Banglum vein sizes.
Increased Midas Gold drops.
Nether Banglum Ores explode less frequently when Silk Touch + Efficiency/Fortune is used.
Nether Banglum Chunk drops happen more frequently when lucky.
Reduced Midas Gold Discard Chance.
Improved the effect Luck has on Midas Gold bartering.
Increased Durasteel yield from full ores when using a Tier 3 Forge Controller.
Improved Bronze tool textures.
Reduced Orichalcum Hammer mining speed by 10%.
Increased the chance of Carmot spawning in caves (Discard Chance 25% -> 12.5%).
Increased the healing from a Carmot Block in a Carmot Staff (2.5 Hearts -> 5 Hearts).
Reduced the cooldown of the Carmot Block healing ability (700 ticks -> 480 ticks).
Increased the attack speed of a Carmot Staff with a Netherite Block (0.6 -> 0.7).
Increased the range of small AoE Carmot Staff abilities.
Reduced the levels of the following abilities:
- Holy (For anyone wondering, Holy is just extra levels of Smite): 4 -> 3
- Natural Fire Protection: 2 -> 1
- Natural Feather Falling: 4 -> 3
- You now gain more shield per armor piece, 4 -> 5
- The ability description has been updated to reflect this.
- Increased shield recharge rate
- Improved the rendering of the shield

This update contains the biggest changes in the history of Mythic Metals.
A lot has been removed from the mod, which includes:
- All of Aetherium
- All of Argonium
- All of Brass
- All of Discordium
- All of Electrum
- All of Etherite
- All of Truesilver, which has been replaced in favor of Palladium
- All of Tantalite
- All of Quicksilver
- All of Ur
- All of Zinc
- Copper Ingots/Blocks, which have been replaced by vanilla variants
- Tin equipment
- Starrite gear, which has been replaced in favor of Star Platinum
- Quadrillum armour
Even though this update removes ores I have written a datafixer which should replace all the missing ores with stones, making this version compatible with older worlds.
A lot of changes have been made:
- Added deepslate variants of Adamantite, Mythril, Orichalcum and Unobtainium.
- Added a tuff and smooth basalt variant of Orichalcum.
- Added a calcite variant of Kyber. Normal Kyber spawns rarely in the world, but it spawns in large veins in calcite (mainly from amethyst geodes).
- Added a blackstone variant of Stormyx.
- Nether ores now have their own custom feature for spawning in the overworld (portal remnants and mod compat).
- Added a calcite variant of Starrite. Starrite now spawns rarely anywhere in the world.
- Added an End Stone Ore of Starrite, which is the main source of Starrite.
- Added a deepslate variant of Prometheum, since it can now be found in Lush Caves.
- Tweaked Unobtainium spawn rates (it is now more common to find per-world, but will be VERY hard to find in caves).
- Ores heights have been tweaked, even respecting the max world height/bottom.
- The world-gen is mainly balanced around the Caves and Cliffs Datapack, fully utilizing the new height range from 320 to -64.
- For the optimal experience I recommend using it, or any other mod that changes the world height.
- Added some secrets
A lot of the artwork has been changed in the mod. Shoutouts to the artists who have worked on Mythic Metals:
- Matpac
- RGBeet
- Amoraire
- DH
- Tector
- Temreno
- Shiftless
- Pois1x
- Henchman
Codewise there has been a lot of internal changes. Re-naming of features, a new solution for configs, and new "sets" which function as bundles for registering items. A lot of balancing changes have been made, and considering the removal of old materials here are some of the new ones:
- Star Platinum is an alloy from Starrite, Platinum, and Carmot. It provides protection similar to Diamond, and is a component for Celestium.
- The armor set made from Star Platinum has the damage bonus from the Etherite set.
- Celestium is now an end-game metal, focusing on movement speed. It is crafted from Star Platinum, Kyber, and Unobtainium.
- Prometheum has recieved a re-design, and is now a high tier metal. It has recieved Discordiums effects.
- To compensate for the strengths of the hallowed ores (adamantite, mythril, orichalcum) they have been given some weaknesses.
There are a lot more minor changes as well, but for now I implore you to check them out for yourself.
Hotfix - Fixes a config loading issue with old Autoconfig and Cloth2
Unembedded Cloth Config from the mod, you now have to download it yourself.
Added dust support for Indrev and Mechanical Tech.
Unobtainium can now spawn exposed in caves and similar, making it easier to find.
SLightly buffed hoes and high-tier axes.
Major interal refactors of the code.
Added new hallowed and metallurgium armor models, as well as changing aetherium, adamantite, mythril and orichalcum ones.
Various re-colours and texture changes.
Added missing tags for gold and hallowed dusts.
Added two new libraries: Enchant Giver and Alloy Forgery. You will need to download Alloy Forgery in order to use Mythic Metals! Link: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/alloy-forgery
EnchantGiver adds innate enchantments to aquarium and prometheum. They can be overridden with higher enchantments, but they will not disappear even if a grindstone is used.
Alloy Forgery is a new mod that lets you build a multiblock alloy smelter. This smeltery replaces the old alloy system. Making alloys require lava and different tiers of smelters (currently only 2 tiers are in place, with nothing more planned).
A tutorial will be available on the upcoming Mythic Metals Wiki! Once it's ready a link will be available.
Added new anvils! These can be made from a selection of the metals, and will not break!
Added new chains! These can be crafted from a selection of metals and nuggets.
Added a new material: Hallowed. Made from the hallowed ores (adamantite, mythril and orichalcum).
Unembedded PigLib. You will now have to install it manually, to prevent version issues.
Added BYG, Terrestria and Traverse support! You will now find biome specific ores such as Starrite in their biomes.
The ore generator has been changed internally so that it actually generates ores in their defined ranges. This means that worldgen has changed, and upgrading might cause funky chunk borders.
Squashed a couple of bugs related to Harvest Scythes and Charm.
Removed Lutetium, as it only served as a worse silver alternative.
Adjusted most of the textures, as well as adding some new models. Thank you to:
- DH(LordDeatHunter), for a lot of the re-colours, item models and animated textures.
- Temreno, for the new armour and tool models.
- Tector, for the new ore and ingot textures.
- Pois1x, for the new anvil model + texture.
- Henchman, for new low-tier textures (copper, tin, bronze, and ur).

- Slowsilver armor has been nerfed, as well as small tool nerf
- Made tin and vermiculite spawn higher up
- Celestium and Starrite have swapped mining speeds
Next update is mostly cleaning up before the final major release of Mythic Metals. I want to focus making addons for the mod over adding a lot more content, since I believe Mythic Metals serves the scope of adding more ores.
Main focus will be getting even better textures for the rest of the items, ores and blocks. The first addon I wish to make is a decorations addon which would mean the chains will be moved to another mod eventually.
There will be a few more features added, but after then the mod will mainly be maintained. I will be adding support for other mods though, but in the form extra mods.
Thank you all for showing interest in this mod!
Added PigLib Integration. If installed Piglins will let you trade with Midas Gold, and ignore you wearing Midas Gold and Argonium armor.

- Nerfed Kyber tools
