First off, thanks Dr.Mine and all contributors for the amazing efforts into putting such useful materials together (I am total n00b in the data world and I am enjoying my learnings from these materials so far).

To the topic, this is a follow up to the comment here: OpenIntroStat/openintro-statistics#42 (comment)

Here are few points why I find epub more useful than a web version:

  • I can read offline. Meaning I can totally turn off all online distraction and just focus. I am for one, can't control the distraction level if I am online (specially during these times where I work from home and my social and work life are mainly online).
  • Epub readers can provide really smooth experience with very little computing resources; this is specially important when I read on my Android-based e-ink reader which has pretty limited processor and memory. Compared to full browser, epub wins.
  • The ability to read on an e-ink reader is very critical to me given my eyes get strained easily from reading on regular screen
  • This last point can be resolved without epub, but here they are: epub readers (desktop and regular tablet ones) can easily render different color themes, like dark mode. Which again helps with eye strains if I have to use my desktop or my iPad

If I compare to PDF, then all the above + epub pages respond better to different zoom level and screen sizes (but this is also can be done on web)

Thank you @Ahmed-Ali for compiling this list. Working on non-HTML formats of the book is on my short term to do list so I'll leave this issue open and update when I get to that task.
