<p class="Li-p">He was transferred to the London branch of Goupil & Cie, where he became interested in British literature and art.</p>

He lived in Paris and was influenced by the work of the Impressionists, Post-Impressionists, and Japanese prints. During this time, he developed his own unique style of painting.

He moved to Arles in the south of France, where he produced some of his most famous works, including <i>Starry Night</i>, <i>Sunflowers</i>, and <i>The Yellow House</i>.

<p class="Li-p">He voluntarily committed himself to the Saint-Paul-de-Mausole asylum in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, where he continued to paint prolifically.</p>
