Best Practices for SEO JSON-LD, RDFa, Microdata in OrchardCore?

I am just wondering which way to go, to enhance at least some of my pages with structured data.

I am not at all drawn to JSON-LD, though it may be the easiest thing.

I thought about using shortcodes for declaring structured data properties and items inside html texts. BTW: can shortcodes be nested?

For some content I have the problem though, that I would need to declare the structured data item on a level that needs to be accessed by the templates. So changing contentTypes to pass the data and changing templates to use that data should not be done without proper thoughts.

Any experience out there, that you would like to share?
Any features for OC, we may get from this discussion?

Could anyone please write about his/her experience or elaborate the SEO features pointing in that direction in the documentation?
Documentation is basically not there regarding SEO in this direction. I think - but I am not sure - that Google schema should go into this direction, but filling in something does not seem to change rendering of my pages at all.

So there must be some requirements to have this working - or I need to look somewhere else for the results.

Please give a full example

1. for a page without bag parts
2. for a page containing multiple content items or parts in bags or lists.
3. for the necessary requirements in templates or themes (liquid and razor)

One thing, why I was irritated:
Preview does not seem to work with Google Schema SEO (JSON-LD).
So checking for results only works, if you publish.
