Description

I use Libation to manage my offline Audible books database.
To listen I transfer them to my phone. But the problem is they're in .m4b format which is currently not supported by Auxio :(

It's possible for me to convert them to .mp3 but audiobooks are generally best quality in their default .m4b format and I don't want to lose quality.

Also nothing mentioned about this format in wiki: https://github.com/OxygenCobalt/Auxio/wiki/Supported-Audio-Formats

Problem solved

No response

Other implementations

I'm not sure how it's handled but it works without any issue on VLC player.

Benefit

Supporting this format would allow users to listen their audiobooks in best possible quality.

Do the files appear in Auxio @shuvashish76?

Nope.

Are the files located in the /Audiobooks folder @shuvashish76? Auxio by default does not load these since I've generally designed the app to discourage other audio use-cases like audiobooks or podcasts. You can turn it off in Settings -> Content -> Exclude non-music.

Are the files located in the /Audiobooks folder?

They're in /Music/(respective book folder*). But for testing I moved them to various other places but still same result.

You can turn it off in Settings -> Content -> Exclude non-music.

Ok still it doesn't show me anything.

I want to mention here that they don't work if I click the file from filemanager > choose "open with Auxio" either. If you'd like to test I can send you some sample files using PrivateBin.

Okay, I'll need some sample files to work with @shuvashish76 since functionally m4b should be equivalent to m4a and be picked up as at minimum audio files.

@OxygenCobalt Due to 10MB size limit I'm sending some files as zip; link here.

Hey sorry @shuvashish76, I got swamped with work and couldn't get the file in time. Feel free to send a new one, but I might just make a synthetic one on my end instead.

@shuvashish76 Why not use Voice Audiobook Player instead? It plays .m4b files flawlessly.

@alphanerdgen I don't use Playstore. That app is too heavy 78MB on F-Droid.
Besides that it's not about "why not use this or that alternative". It's an feature request for this specific project.
