Deleting SYSCONF resets output resolution #3
Comments
That's... odd. |
It seems 576i is the first/default option. It's just that my computer display doesn't support it and is only happy with 480p. |
Another thing I've just noticed: I got NEWS000002 and FORE000002 errors and had to do a Connection Test even though everything else seemed to work fine. Didn't see this mentioned anywhere, too. The WiFi settings were still there after deleting SYSCONF so I never thought of checking that. |
I didn't know there was an issue with the video input. Yes, you receive those errors until you do a connection test. |
Normally, the Wii outputs its video signal via Composite (yellow RCA plug) or RGB Scart - both go into a TV which can work with 480p, 480i or 576i just fine. No issue there. However, there are now HDMI adapters for the Wii so you can plug it everywhere that has a HDMI socket. E.g. a computer monitor. But those only support progressive signals - 480p in this case. If the Wii outputs interlaced (480i or 576i), my monitor goes black and shows an error. For some strange reason the Everybody Votes Channel also switches to 480i during the region selection which also makes my monitor tap out. As soon as the Wii goes back to 480p, I can see a picture again. |
Trying to fix the NEWS0006 error, I've deleted my SYSCONF which seems to have put my Wii in 576i mode instead of 480p and now my display says "Out of range".
This is with a Wii-to-HDMI adapter on an LG (computer) display.
I now have to find an actual TV and change the setting again.
Maybe you want to add a little warning about that to the guide and/or the Clear Tool. 😉
