always_use_exten option

Would it be possible to add an option to always use the set exten in quectel.conf please?

Sorry. I should've explained better.

The exten option in quectel.conf is only used as fallback when the SIM number is not available, and only replaced when the number is known.

My suggestion is to add an option that forces whatever value exten is so that it is always used, regardless of the number given from the SIM. This would allow,

• Avoiding the need for pattern matching and i extensions in the dialplan. Sometimes SIM numbers aren't set, or in my case begin with + 00 and even +00. Yeah, UK networks often use different variations - those are very rare cases though.
• Swapping of SIM cards in the same device, without the need to update the dialplan or quectel.conf - as the exten passed will always be the same.

of course this has some drawbacks, and there are workarounds too.

Now I see. You may try chan_quectel from ao2 branch. aff6e1b is a quick completely untested change. Please note that ao2 branch is experimental.

Thanks. I gave it a whirl but sadly couldn't test the option, the 4G module no longer seem to be detected.. You did say it was experimental! But no worries. I wasn't expecting you to add the option so fast TBH, I am very grateful you did however! :)

OK. Sorry for the confusion - ao2 requires solid testing. I still have serious problems with locking. So, I created a new branch always-use-exten with commit 5c98ab1 cherry-picked from ao2 branch. Now you may try always_use_exten option safely.

And once again. I apologize for the confusion. This wasn't intentional.
