Copying png images (with a transparent background) with a Gesturify gesture makes said background black while copying the same image on the right-click context menu keeps the transparent background.

  • Operating system: Windows 10
  • Firefox version: 69.0 (64 bit)
  • Gesturefy version: 2.1.1

I cannot reproduce your issue. I've tested it on several images (for example https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d2/Firefox_Logo%2C_2017.png) Please provide an example image/url.

Where do you paste the image? I copied the one you provided into PowerPoint and it still shows a black background, but when I copy the image with "right click>copy image" PowerPoint keeps the transparent background.

Where do you paste the image?

Libre Office Writer, Impress and Inkscape.

I just changed the copy image command code. Can you please try if it fixes your problem? To do so, just follow the description below.

  1. download the development version here: https://github.com/Robbendebiene/Gesturefy/archive/master.zip and unzip it
  2. deactivate your current Gesturefy installation (about:addons)
  3. go to about:debugging and click on "Load temporary add-on" and choose the manifest.json file in the unzipped src directory
  4. test the "copy image" command

To revert the change just restart your browser and re-enable Gesturefy.

I was able to follow your instrucions (received a "Gesturify has been updated" message) but the gesture still doesn't work properly :(
I'm sending a screenshot with the gesture result and the one with "right click>copy image".
If there's something else that can be done, I'm willing to help.

Unfortunately this has to be a Firefox bug. I just opened a ticket for that.
