I was looking around at the sponsors of a forum board and noticed a BTC casino link. I thought "SB hosts will block it but I'll try it anyway". To my surprise it loaded, but I figured maybe it's too new and obscure. It lead me to a site of the top 10 BTC casinos, and I clicked some more of them, all of them loading. Finally I figured I'd try something easy like FanDuel, and... it loaded!
I assumed the Gambling extension was a blocklist for anything gambling-related in order to potentially stop addictive behavior. I figure since those sites are nefarious by nature it's safer to just block them as a security measure. I go over to the gambling-only hosts file, and notice:
What?
I'm surprised that apparently Vietnam has bad-enough gambling practices to warrant blocking almost 5000 domains related to it, but I'm also surprised to see it as the only source in the whole gambling extension!
Should (and could) the gambling extension be extended to encompass anything worldwide related to local and online casinos and state-ran lottery on the premises that most people using the gambling extension consider those sites negative and want to block them? Or should it be reserved for truly predatory sites? I'm not sure how encompassing the VN source list is.
