While I get the basic concept of the mode, the trees themselves could be a nice addition to a survival world, but not having the mob spaning mechanic.

A proposal related to this:

  • Trees spawn naturally in world, either randomly on any biome, or having a specific rainbow forest for it.
    • Naturally spawned trees won't spawn mobs by default, but there would be a config allowing you to change that (this could be somewhat used on packs like Invasion i guess?)
  • Saplings will grow normal trees, not spawning mobs ever. If you want to manually grow a spawner tree, you have to infuse the sapling in some way (as for vanilla, maybe surround it in the mob's drop. If paired with other mods like DE or Blood Magic, maybe add some integration with "Mob Essence/Soul" from them isntead?

This is just a personal idea/suggestion.

A survival-friendly source of the trees is planned, using a (balanced because) multiblock smelter to infuse the trees, but will not be released prior to ModOff due to unexpected technical difficulties.

Fortunately, minetweaker and similar mods should be capable of adding recipes themselves.

I do like the idea of the rainbow forest, though. I might have it spawn primarily inert trees with the occasional active one.
