Point at (point-max) is not preserved properly when buffer returns to display

When point is at the end of the buffer, and it's hidden, then new records added at end, and then it is redisplayed, the point does not stay at the end.

This happens both with normal buffer switching or when switching between tab-bar tabs, each of which "restore" the point to where it had been.
