WebAssembly/WASI Native Messaing host

It looks like WebAssembly/WASI now has something akin to stdin/stdout? With a WASM runtime we should be able to read from stding and write to stdout?

This is the C and C++ I am currently using as a host

Can either be compiled to WASM so we can use a WASM runtime to run the compiled WebAssembly code as a Native Messaging host?

WASI has supported stdin/stdout mechanisms since the beginning. Many Wasm runtimes today support running Wasm programs that read from stdin and write to stdout. At first glance, everything in those .c and .cpp files looks like it could be compiled to Wasm and run today.

Did you ever resolve thie issue of undefined symbols (__cxa_allocate_exception and __cxa_throw)? I have the same issue on a RISC-V installation.

You mentioned here: #82 (reply in thread) that you got undefined symbols and I am having the same issue and would like to know if you resolved them.

I don't think I tried again with the C++ code after I compiled the C code. Looking at that link I should have probably use clang++ instaed of clang?

I'll try again here in a few days when I get rid of some space, I only have ~500MB available and I think WASI-SDK will use that up.

@matsbror Re-reading the README I ran wasi-sdk-20.0 with this file https://github.com/guest271314/native-messaging-cpp/blob/main/nm_cpp.cpp

${WASI_SDK_PATH}/bin/clang++ -fno-execptions --sysroot=${WASI_SDK_PATH}/share/wasi-sysroot ../nm_cpp.cpp -o nm_cpp.wasm

and used that .wasm file with wasmtime as the Native Messaging host.
