Currently the plugin uses the [[]] syntax for linking the files, but it would be nice to be able to specify which linking format to use similarily how it is implemented in Obsidian Core (Wiki Links, relative Markdown links, absolute Markdown links).
If you don't want to work on this (or #68 and #69) I could also try to solve this myself and send a pull request.
