Just curious if anyone is still working on this, I would order a Pebble instantly if Anki existed on it as I use my Gear 1 currently with Anki but as we all know it consumes alot more power than the Pebble.

And just some curious questions:

  1. Does Japanese work with the Anki alpha that you guys have? on reddit it said that Japanese did not work with it, only chinese but here in this picture you got some Japanese decks in the menu https://camo.githubusercontent.com/af3fce26fc8590f0766ebf856602805cc68063cd/68747470733a2f2f73332e616d617a6f6e6177732e636f6d2f6676642d646174612f6e6f7465732f3136363438392f313433333631333838382d444345784d6d2f73637265656e2e706e67
  2. Does Anki alpha on the Pebble work independently offline or does it read the deck from the phone or the anki deck web system over wifi?.

Thank you very much.

Hey @McDoogal, sorry for the delayed response!

  1. Ishi is a work in progress. Japanese on the Pebble, as far as I know, is not supported at this time. I remember seeing support for Chinese characters. The Pebble staff mentioned that they are planning to expand the character support, so it's possible Japanese may be supported in the future.

  2. Ishi works like many other Pebble apps in reading data from the phone, so for now, we're just grabbing the decks from the Anki Android app on your phone. There was an update to Anki that will change how developers write apps to interface with Anki. We modified the Anki app itself at first, but this may change with what Anki introduced.

@hallfox, feel free to elaborate or clarify anything I may have left out. :)
