Is this project essentially dead, or can it be rebooted easily?

The linked page 404s from vuegg.github.io so I assume it's dead or dying a slow death.

Hey @thewhiterabbit, first of all thanks for your interest 😸 (I kinda share your same questions/concerns about the project)

I would assume that for any project the answer is YES (as typically more Interest/Money/Contributions come hand-in-hand). The truth of the matter is that I built vuegg during my spare time (over a period I had time to spend in open-source software). It was created as a way for me to learn vuejs with a real-world project and eventually I decided to add more features (hoping for some community interest to help build it further).

Worth mentioning, all the time and effort I put in the project has never been compensated/paid in any way, meaning that I have a full-time job that actually pays my bills. So the only reason for me to keep the project updated is wanting to invest my spare time (when I have it) because I enjoy programming... but obviously is not my priority in any way.

There used to be a deployed vuegg instance here https://vuegg.now.sh/, running on a free tier of "Zeit Now" (rebranded as "Vercel"), many things changed about their free tiers with the rebranded version that broke vuegg's instance and the automated deployment process... aside from many updates needed within vuegg.

This is to point out, this project was never a production ready project by any means (it's a proof of concept), that's stated in the readme, along with instructions of how to run it locally if desired.

Depends what you mean by that. On my side, I can tell you: Yes, it's stale. If you take a look at the Network section there's some people extending the repo in their own branches.

Depends what you consider "easy". However I will refer you back to your initial question and state again: Any OSS needs first Interest, which usually brings along Contributions and some times Money too (which typically keeps this trinity cycling in a healthy way).

TLTR

I'd be happy to hear from contributors willing to give vuegg a face-wash and push functionality further. The project's README holds spirit/ideals about its progression and I personally would be happy to hear solid ideas/proposals. Don't hesitate to contact me personally 👍

The struggle to keep packages compatible is real, but yeah, I understand the situation. I was looking for a cool project to contribute to.

I was hoping there would be more replies showing a reboot interest. I like the POC and it could have been pushed to prod but I think it's been too long neglected to catch up with all the package updates and all that nightmare that comes with JS PMs without pulls being caught up first.

I also just discovered a crypto pool mining project that is very current I think I'll play with that one for a while.

It's kinda frustrating for both of us because you're proud of vuegg when it worked and lost the free time/interest and I found time and interest but then it's discouraging because of needing significant updating just to be a POC again.

Ping me in a week or two and ask where I am with the mining pool thing. Meanwhile, I could do some unit tests on the pull requests and approve them if you don't have time. That would be step one to a reboot anyhow.

Super cool idea, keep me posted please. I have skills that might lend to project monetization in the future as well.
