0. Building Sniper + RISC-V System
Script that performs all the Steps (1-4) described below for running SPEC in Sniper + RISC-V ecosystem
$SNIPER_ROOT/riscv/build-riscv.sh
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Pre-requisites
1a. riscv-tools - includes Spike (that support sift generation)
git clone -b sift https://github.com/nus-comparch/riscv-tools.git
cd riscv-tools
git submodule update --init --recursive
export RISCV=$(pwd)/RV64G
export PATH=$RISCV/bin:$PATH
1b. rv8 simulator (that support sift generation)
git clone -b sift https://github.com/nus-comparch/rv8.git
cd rv8
git submodule update --init --recursive
export RV8_HOME=$(pwd)
1c. Sniper and Pin
git clone -b riscv http://snipersim.org/<path-to-sniper>/sniper.git
cd sniper
export SNIPER_ROOT=$(pwd)
Download Pinplay (or Pin) version 3+ from https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/program-recordreplay-toolkit
ln -s <path-to-your-copy-of-pin> pin_kit
1d. Speckle
Assumptions: You’ve own copy of SPEC CPU2006 v1.2 installed at $CPU2006_HOME
export SPEC_DIR=$(CPU2006_HOME)
git clone -b sift https://github.com/nus-comparch/Speckle.git
cd Speckle
export SPECKLE_ROOT=$(pwd)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Compiling binaries
NPROC=(`nproc --all`)
2a. riscv-tools (includes Spike)
cd riscv-tools
./build-sift.sh $NPROC # optionally add the number of -j threads
2b. rv8
cd $RV8_HOME
make test-build TEST_RV64="ARCH=rv64imafd TARGET=riscv64-unknown-elf"
make -j 1 # make -j $NPROC for parallel simulation
2c. Sniper
cd $SNIPER_ROOT
make # Parallel builds currently broken
2d. Speckle
# To compile and copy SPEC
cd $SPECKLE_ROOT
./gen_binaries_sift.sh --compile --copy
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Running SPEC binaries to generate SIFT traces using Speckle
If SPEC is already compiled but not copied (assumes binaries are in $SPECKLE_ROOT/build)
./gen_binaries_sift.sh --run # runs all the benchmarks
If SPEC is already compiled and binaries copied to $SPECKLE_ROOT/riscv-spec-test,
./run_sift.sh [--benchmark <bname>][--all]
To run individual binaries in Spike,
cd $SPECKLE_ROOT/riscv-spec-test/${BENCHMARK}
# cut off the numbers ###.short_exe
SHORT_EXE=${BENCHMARK##*.}
# ${input} : Input command; usage can be found at $SPECKLE_ROOT/commands/${BENCHMARK}.test.cmd
# ${input-count} : User-defined; to differentiate the sift files for multiple inputs tested
spike --sift=${SHORT_EXE}_${input-count}.sift pk ${SHORT_EXE} ${input}
Example:
cd $SPECKLE_ROOT/riscv-spec-test/456.hmmer
spike --sift=hmmer-1.sift pk hmmer --fixed 0 --mean 325 --num 45000 --sd 200 --seed 0 bombesin.hmm
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. Running SIFT traces with Sniper
$SNIPER_ROOT/run-sniper -criscv --traces=$SPECKLE_ROOT/riscv-spec-test/456.hmmer/hmmer-1.sift
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
