HA turn off doesn't work on all instances of wled

Hi,

Thank you very much for the very hard work, this addon is amazing.

I am not sure if there is an issue or it's more likely a User error made on my end.

I run Hyperhdr on my windows 10 pc and this pc also run my home assistant on a virtual machine. On hyperhdr I have 4 instances:
-Cabinet for the light strip under the TV
-Guitar for the light strip above my guitars on the left of the TV
-Sofa for the strip behind the sofa
-Books for the light strips on the right side of the TV

Tv is an Philips lamplights so no need for leds here. All 4 light strips are with wled, on esp8266 and esp32.

I made a helper in HA to turn off all 4 hyperhdr lights. The issue I a having is that the light do turn off and not longer match the TV content, but two of them are not manageable via wled as there are still linked to hyperhdr.

If HA hyperhdr helper is on I can see all wled are live:

If now I turn off all led switches via the helper, all the lights no longer macth the tv content but two of them stay connected:

When I go into the page I see this:

I made sure that all settings are the same on both wled and hyperhdr settings, but cannot figure how to have this setup.

I just want to have a button in HA to turn all 4 strips on, but I want a button to turn hyperhdr off.

Any idea on what I should check/do?

Hi
As you can see we sent "live":false parameter and the command was received by all 4 WLED devices. Based on this, I assume that the problem is on the WLED side. Whats the type of these two unresponsive devices: esp8266 or some esp32 variant?

But they discarded this option fairly quickly.

Unfortunately enough, two are on esp32 and two on 8266. And one of each work and the other two don't (one 32 and 8266 working as expected). They all run wled 0.14.4, installed the same way the same day.

I tried playing with the jdon turn off options but seem to have the same problem

Try to downgrade one of problematic device to WLED 0.14 or even lower if it's possible. After version 0.14 bad things started happening, especially with WLED running on esp8266.

I was able to solve my problem. The solution was to split my data line in three. Same esp controller but firs pin control 200 leds, second pin 200 leds, and third pin 100 led. I tried initially 2 pins, 200 and 300 but this didn't work neither.

Assuming this will be classified as a hardware fault, but I thought I'd share back my finding in case this ever happens to someone else.

It's now working smoothly. My wled control the lights in HA as expected, and my hyperHRD button in HA controls two Json commands. if Hyper is on my wled HA buttons control the brightness for the strips controlled by hyper, if hyper is off they are back to normal.

This is what I added in HA:

I think it's a WLED issue or the device has run out of resources and probably it's too much for esp8266 (esp32 should handle it). If WLED uses parallel output then probably a 2x250 configuration could work: you'll have to ask WLED support about this, I don't know how they implemented it, it certainly won't be a problem for HyperSerialESP32 in parallel mode which can handle even 2x450 RGBW LEDs. You can test this even without LEDs to see if WLED hangs. Although the assertiveness of WLED support may discourage this.
