Hi beaufortfrancois,

To expand on what @LegusX wrote, the extension seems to work very sporadically. I'm currently running it on Linux Mint 16 with Google Chrome Version 55.0.2883.87 (64-bit) and it has worked flawlessly in the past, yet for the past 1-2 months the shortcuts take time to go into effect (if at all).

As you can see at https://github.com/beaufortfrancois/spotify-hotkeys-chrome-extension/commits/master, I've not updated the extension for 2 years. You might want to file a bug at http://crbug.com/new to let the chromium team know about this issue.
When it's done, can you share the bug URL there?
