Any value in non-recursive root

Hello Borg community --- I wanted to ask if anyone, aside from me, sees value in using non-recursive include\exclude root patterns?

It is unclear what you mean.

Patterns are just patterns, they don't do recursion (but "!" inhibits recursion, when it matches).

R gives a recursion root path.

What I mean is being able to backup a subset of files and sub-directories without recursing down through the entire path.

For example, lets say I want only to backup a subset of files in my home directory (/home/cz) as well as subDir-1 but nothing else. And because all of the other sub-directories in /home/cz contain thousands of files, I don't want Borg to recurse into /home/cz.

I can get Borg to backup the above content but it always recurses all the way down though my home directory.

Wouldn't being able to specify a path location that Borg would not recurse into be a good solution?

Or perhaps I am misunderstanding something about how Borg works...
