The only solution I found is to disable italics entirely, but I can hardly consider this as a satisfactory solution.

The solution for tsx would be the following:

custom_highlights = function(C)
  return {
          ["@tag.attribute.tsx"] = { fg = C.teal, style = {} },
        }
      end,
    },
