In November, each request to cdnjs (on average) used only 17.35 KB of data. 🔍
Library Highlights
This month, FontAwesome (4.7.0) jumped from our number 3 resource to being our top resource with a 10.9% increase in requests.
This was an jump in requests from 4,085,214,500 to 4,532,155,900, using an extra 3TB of bandwidth to achieve this.
Lodash (4.17.11) dropped from first place last month all the way to 32nd, indicating that the spike seen last month was indeed an anomaly.
This was seen before back in July & September of this year, where we concluded with Cloudflare that these spikes were likely due to attacks on certain websites.
GSAP was once again our top library in total (across all files in the top 100), with 31 billion requests and 380 TB.
This was across a total of 12 versions in the top 100 with a combined 20 different files contributing to these library totals.
Total Number of Requests
The first important stat that we are given is the total number of requests sent to cdnjs.cloudflare.com.
Cloudflare provides this number to us at a 1% sample for the whole month, giving 1,721,734,904 at 1%.
This is 172,173,490,400 when multiplied up to 100%.
We are also given a number of requests for 3 days at a 100% sample, which is 17,354,804,937.
This is 173,548,049,370 when recalculated for the 30 days of November.
To provide the best possible estimate for the entire month, an average of both numbers will be used to generate the
estimate for the final number of requests for the month.
This results in cdnjs serving approximately 172,860,769,885 requests in November.
Just under 173 billion requests or approximately 5.8 billion requests every single day of November. 📈
This is almost identical to last month, with a slight increase in the number of requests per day, whilst the total
number was actually ever so slightly lower than October.
Unlike in October where lodash had a massive spike in requests, this month that spike did not exist, however,
FontAwesome did jump up by 500 million requests.
Total Bandwidth Usage
Another great stat that Cloudflare has given us again is the bandwidth usage for the cdnjs.cloudflare.com domain.
This number, like total requests, is provided at a 1% sample for the month and in gigabytes: 29,721.85 GB.
This is 2,972,185.0 GB or 2.97 PB when multiplied up to be 100%.
Additionally, a 3 day 100% sample is given by Cloudflare at 302,698.14 GB.
This results in 3,026,981.4 GB or 3.03 PB for the month.
As with the total number of requests and due to the significant difference between the two, both numbers will be used to
calculate an average for the final estimate of bandwidth consumed this month.
This produces the estimate of 2,999,583.2 GB of bandwidth used for this month by cdnjs.
This gives cdnjs a huge bandwidth consumption of 3.00 petabytes of data for requests this month. 🤯
Much like the requests this month, the total bandwidth cdnjs consumed through serving assets this month is very in line
with what has been seen in previous months and especially in October.

These are provided at a 1% sample for the whole of November.
