Options or Multiples

Options (also synonymous to Multiples) are drones vastly known for following the host's movement path and duplicating produced projectiles of the host. A host may only have up to 4 Options.

They are probably the most important weapon in the Gradius series due to its nature of multiplying the amount of firepower the host has.

In this mod, the Options can be deployed through the means of equipping the accessory that spawns the Options. They can also be upgraded to take up less slots

Movement Behavior

The Options follow the owner's movement path. Having more them will automatically adjust themselves by set distances, but still mirroring the movement path of the host.

If the host stops moving, they will also stop moving from their places. The Options phase through tiles and entities. Their movement is not hindered and will absolutely follow the player movement. They cannot also interact with enemies.

Attack Behavior

The Options will duplicate the host's projectiles, spawned from their positions and fired with the same bearing and speed. Not all projectiles in Terraria can be copied as it may cause massive lag, or worse a crash. Modded projectiles can also be copied.

The Options are invulnerable from any damage. They will continue to persist for so long as the host is alive.

Option Types

There are a wide array of Option Types available for the host to choose from. Each Option Type may have different movement and attack behaviors from their standard or regular variations as described above. These special options also has special abilities unique to them. The player must hold down the Option Action Key to have the Options perform these abilities. The Option Action key can be set in Controls settings.

All other Option Types are upgraded from the standard option as an ingredient along with other materials. Below is a list of available and accessible Option Types the host may upgrade to.

  • Aim Option - Specializes in being able to control your option's direction of fire.
  • Charge Multiple - Able to charge itself into a powerful piercing homing missile.
  • Freeze Option - Can freeze their movement path in place, but directly copy their host's relative position.
  • Rotate Option - Can move in a pattern where the options circle around the host.
  • Search Option - Specializes in accuracy by seeking and pursuing hostiles.

Option Seed

The Option Seed is a special kind of Option. It is an incomplete drone, yet it works and may be used in combat.

The Option Seed will only attack if the host dealt damage. It will fire projectiles independently by a constant rate of fire. The damage is based on the held weapon, but they cannot inherit bonuses from modifiers and armor sets.

The projectile fired is also based on the ammo slots of the host. The first slot takes priority. The Option Seed can only produce projectiles that are classified as Arrows or Bullets. If all ammo in the slots do not create Arrows or Bullets, then no projectile will be spawned.

The host can control the rotational direction of the Option Seed by toggling the accessory visibility icon. They can also be upgraded to a standard Option.
