Initial feedback for exhibit templates

• Have created the HEADER pages (“chapters”)- please use those images to match the clickable images in the front page for the four “chapters”

About “Subsection Header” pages:

• I had initially suggested this: Need one more “SUB-SECTION HEADER” PAGE type for section headers - “Making Madras” page for example - “Making Madras” should appear may be in the middle of the text area and then the additional text should appear below it perhaps justified center?

• But I later noticed that all pages have mandatory titles and we don’t have mandatory titles on the exhibition for all slides except the subsection header page. So instead of creating a new page template, if we could have the option of the page titles being made optionally visible that would work great. (I am finding the titles very useful for arranging and understanding what’s on each page generally so I do want to continue to create titles for every page.)

• When I used the “half and half” option it works in a weird way and that’s what you see on the page “Indian Use of Handkerchiefs”

• I get this error message “Request entity too large error 413” and report error to website administrator when I tried to upload a second image on the page “Woman’s Dress in South India” - the size of the image is only 97KB

  • I have since had similar error messages for a couple of other upload tries, including once in a .png format but again the file sizes on .jpg and .png were max 2MB and most of the times they were less than 1MB.

• Image comparison option is not working. It comes as two static images one after the other with the text not seen anywhere

• Need the zoom option on some of the slides

  • Implement OSD for image zooming #18

• Currently the caption appears laid on top of the image - can we change it to either a hover function or on the side?

• Widescreen option makes the page scroll before getting to the button - is that a problem?

Navigation buttons:

• In the order of buttons, shouldn’t “previous” come first? So the order would be - previous, next, take me to the beginning

• From each subsection header page within the chapter, they can jump to next subsection header page while still retaining the option to go to the beginning - however, I wonder if that becomes one too many buttons because on the subsection header pages there will four buttons instead of three

• Can you give me the exact height of the available web page space as well as the width of the one-third, two-third, and half image box spaces. Some of the images are not fitting correctly and I want to resize them.

• The full image function is not working. For “Making Madras” slide the full image is going “over” the page height so you can only see a part of the image. And because the “x” to exit that window is not in the visible range, you can’t “x” out of that window at all.
  • One possible resolution: Open the image in a new tab which will allow for the full resolution full size image to show up?

• Image cut-off issue (a lot of pages have this issue - I am just choosing a few from different templates here as samples for you to see that there is a general aspect ratio problem):

• Can we make the “Caption” and “Full Image” buttons lighter or translucent? Lighter gray to match the previous next buttons at the bottom for sure but if there is a way to make them transparent, that would be great too but not a necessity.

• The main page still has a fifth “chapter” that says “Exhibits” - delete
• Subsection page navigation button:
  • Added subsection page options for skipping to the next subsection. The subsection button does not show up everywhere it is added.

• Three column layout issue (See the page “Indian Use of Handkerchiefs for sample: https://dev.connectingthreads.rrchnm.org/exhibits/madras-in-south-india/indian-use-of-handkerchiefs/)
  • The two images now line up side by side but they are being contained by height rather than by width if that makes sense so neither of them are being shown as full images. I can resize the images to make them fit? But we might have to think of that size bounded box option for this template at least to make sure that the aspect ratio is uniform for all of these types of pages?
  • The zoom functionality application is not possible in this model because the zoom function is attached to the single image upload option and does not extend to the two images options in the three column layout.

• The “Wide Image” format has no navigation buttons or as I have been working, there are navigation buttons now but it is sitting on top of the image: https://connectingthreads.co.uk/exhibits/madras-in-south-india/global-textile-trade/

• The dynamic scroll is not working in the half and half layout. However, if you fix the wide image format above to not have the text box on top of the page and somehow get that layout to function with a dynamic scroll that could work.
• Can we set links to open in a new tab for internal web links as well?
• The “Enter Chapter” button is not there on the rebuilt entry pages
• In the dynamic scroll format, caption and full size image buttons are not showing up (I tried “Wide Image” and one of the “Two Thirds” layouts - not showing up in either. Ex: https://connectingthreads.co.uk/exhibits/madras-in-south-india/indian-use-of-handkerchiefs/
  • The dynamic scroll really only works with the wide image layout and even then the aspect ratios are a little dicey. It does not work in the two thirds layout - they lie on top of each other instead of side by side.
• For Later: The Zoom option should be extended to the layouts with two images. Currently only a single image slide is zoomable theoretically with the choices
