As Kali is based on Debian you can use Debian 12 as reference. Install should be similar.
One possibility is to change script where $OS_DEBIAN_VERSION == "Debian""12"*.
Second way is to change temporarily file /etc/os-release PRETTY_NAME="Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm)"
