Admin option to control the maximum amount of badges (0 through 100 or something) a user can display on their profile/next to their name. Zero could default to no limit on badge display. Feature would be site wide, no option to limit only specific users.

Additionally
User option to to choose which earned badges they wish to display publicly, simple check box, limited by the above suggestion.
