This is an open listing of ideas around improving the corporate sponsor experience and thus raising more money for Django itself. The focus is on small addressable things rather than a redesign.

  • Homepage... put sponsors on the bottom in order based on sponsorship tiers as VueJS and many other sites do?
  • Sidebar... use existing space to highlight sponsors if above a certain tier? Not just random like now.
  • Change wording from "Donate" or "Support" to "Sponsor" throughout
  • Improve https://www.djangoproject.com/fundraising/ page to be more concise, highlight corporate sponsors more vs lower down
  • Prospectus with benefits of sponsorship. Inspiration can be found here and in other places. Benefits include 1) Security, 2) Regular releases, 3) Fellows Program. Sponsors receive visibility both on djangorpoject.com website and that can be used/mentioned on their own sites/marketing/hiring

I think another good example of a prospectus for Django is here: https://fund.django-rest-framework.org/topics/funding/ -- It seems more approachable, and I think is the actual value you're selling with the fellows.

Just a reminder to sell benefits instead of things. So, you're not "funding the fellow program", you're "getting new features on a regular basis that your devs need" and "investing in the security of LTS releases" ;)

This is not stale. Rather it's something we should steer effort towards.

Hi @wsvincent

I would love to contribute to this. Here's what I currently have:

djangohome

To proceed, I have a few questions. Is the goal to list all corporate sponsors on the homepage, or only sponsors at or above a certain level? Should I reduce the size of the grids so that the list won't occupy too much space on the homepage?

Looking forward to your feedback and the opportunity to contribute.

Hi @dorian-adams, thank you for your willingness to contribute to this issue :)

There are some discussion ongoing for the website, so I think you should rather wait a bit before to do this issue or take another one.

Instead, I would like to suggest that you mention your interest in the working group on the website, if that would be of interest to you.
