For logging to syslog, we need to be able to record the host of the source dnstap message, not the

The hostname can be configured with the following setting:

  # set syslog hostname
  hostname: ""

Sorry, some requirements got missed, For our requirement, I was meaning "hostname" to be dynamic based on the DNS server the dnstap message came from. As it stands , I have to feed the output through another process to populate and accurate value in our splunk logs

Add the server identity in the text-format setting is not enough ?
Anyway, I will take a look to allowing any fields from the DNStap message to be added to the hostname
