dockerize-ambari

# for FreeIPA
sudo sysctl -w net.ipv4.ip_unprivileged_port_start=80

# for FreeIPA server container, use podman
$ podman-compose up --build --no-recreate

# clean way

build rpms using apache/bigtop

I use eub branch in forked repository https://github.com/eubnara/bigtop because sometimes I need to test some patches for Hadoop or Ambari.

build bigtop inside docker container

git pull https://github.com/eubnara/bigtop eubnara-bigtop
cd eubnara-bigtop
git checkout eub-bigtop-3.3.0
docker run -it --name build-bigtop -v`pwd`:/bigtop --workdir /bigtop bigtop/slaves:3.3.0-rockylinux-8 /bin/bash

# e.g. hadoop build
./gradlew -PbuildThreads=`nproc` realclean hadoop-pkg

using BGTP-1.0 on eubnara/bigtop

$ ./gradlew realclean ambari-pkg
$ ./gradlew realclean hadoop-pkg
$ ./gradlew realclean zookeeper-pkg
$ ./gradew realclean bigtop-ambari-mpack-pkg

using BIGTOP-3.3.0 stack on apache/ambari

$ ./gradlew realclean ambari-pkg
# Since using BIGTOP-3.3.0 stack, "-PpkgSuffix", -PparentDir=/usr/bigtop is needed
## https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/BIGTOP-3786

$ ./gradlew realclean hadoop-pkg -PpkgSuffix
$ ./gradlew realclean hadoop-pkg -PpkgSuffix -PbuildThreads=`nproc`
$ ./gradlew realclean hadoop-pkg -PpkgSuffix -PparentDir=/usr/bigtop
$ ./gradlew realclean zookeeper-pkg -PpkgSuffix -PparentDir=/usr/bigtop

# I deploy BIGTOP-3.3.0 stack using customized mpack build

$ ./gradew realclean bigtop-ambari-mpack-pkg

rpm location

# I add rpms using git lfs
# Some rpms are too big to add to git. So I upload on github release. (e.g. ambari-server, hadoop)
# https://github.com/eubnara/dockerize-ambari/releases
$ git lfs track yum-repo/rpm/*

configure-kerberos-4

After "Install Kerberos Client", You need to copy /etc/krb5.conf from any of ambari-agents to ambari-server in order to contact ipa.example.com.

$ podman cp ambari-agent-1.example.com:/etc/krb5.conf ambari-server.example.com:/etc/krb5.conf
Admin principal: admin@EXAMPLE.COM
Admin password: Secret123

certificate

ca.crt
ca.key
fullchain.crt
my-service.crt
my-service.csr
my-service.key
my-service.pfx
openssl.cnf

for *.example.com wildcard
private key password: Secret123
freeipa needs pkcs12 format, full chain certificate with private key

should not use privileged port for datanode because podman uses rootless

how to create certificates

I referred to https://gist.github.com/sethvargo/81227d2316207b7bd110df328d83fad8. I changed something as follows. Changed script is on bin/create-certs.sh

[alt_names]
+ DNS.1 = *.example.com

openssl req \
  -new \
  -newkey rsa:2048 \
+  -days 36500 \
-  -days 120 \
-  -nodes \
  -x509 \
  -subj "/C=US/ST=California/L=The Cloud/O=My Company CA" \
  -keyout "${DIR}/ca.key" \
  -out "${DIR}/ca.crt"
cd bin
bash create-certs.sh

After remove -nodes I type password Secret123 all the time.

I create fullchain.crt, my-service.pfx, my-service.jks like:

$ cat my-service.crt ca.crt > fullchain.crt
$ openssl pkcs12 -export -in fullchain.crt -inkey my-service.key -out my-service.pfx
$ keytool -importkeystore -srckeystore my-service.pfx -srcstoretype pkcs12 -destkeystore my-service.jks -deststoretype jks
Importing keystore my-service.pfx to my-service.jks...
Enter destination keystore password:
Re-enter new password:
Enter source keystore password:
Entry for alias 1 successfully imported.
Import command completed: 1 entries successfully imported, 0 entries failed or cancelled

Warning:
The JKS keystore uses a proprietary format. It is recommended to migrate to PKCS12 which is an industry standard format using "keytool -importkeystore -srckeystore my-service.jks -destkeystore my-service.jks -deststoretype pkcs12".
