re-build in 2023

building the app using relatively current tool chain and library:

  • java 8
  • deploy in tomcat 8

more details - tested in two environments (around 8 GB memory and 50 GB disk):

  1. java 8, tomcat 8, debian 5.10 on Google Cloud

basic steps to rebuild and test

mvn clean
mvn package
sudo cp ~/git/geworkbench-web/target/geworkbench.war /opt/tomcat/webapps/
sudo tail -f /opt/tomcat/logs/catalina.out
