[Feature Request] Alternating background image

Description

This could be implemented using glob matching for the background image. Additionally a new property could be added which defines the time needed to switch to a new image, or 0 to make it switch only when you reload the page.

@Raik176 How would you see this in terms of configuration and serving the files? Would the background images / wallpapers be part of the homepage app? How would that be in terms of configuration then?

I have a few domains which hosts a few websites. Mostly personal and for fun. On one of them i created a folder to hold the following php file and a subfolder called 'images'. It picks an image at random from the folder and serves it.

Then add the following in your config.yaml:

background:

You can use whatever dimensions you want. Works perfectly. Picks an image at each reload of Homepage.

@tristan202 I have implemented something similar in Go.

I see roughly 2 options for the homepage settings

1. An image/api endpoint (like your php) being refreshed at regular interval
2. An array of URL that get rotated at regular interval

What do you think?

I am testing something similar to what @aureq is suggesting. I've setup an endpoint on my local network that when a client hits it, returns a wallpaper. I then set the background URL in homepage to that endpoint.

What sits behind the endpoint can be whatever you want.
