I've tested this bug today on:

Ubuntu 14.04 / QGIS 2.12 Lyon
OS X 10.10.3 / QGIS 2.12 Lyon

In both instances my data loads once. I'm able to edit update and so on. I then save the project file and when QGIS next opens that particular project it hangs on opening and then crashes.

Any suggestions ?

It looks like the feature you are asking for is "Reopen qgis projects including CartoDB layers"
Sadly at this moment it is not implemented.
We will have it into account for future releases.

Thanks for the heads up. This is a real problem when you're 20 or so layers in (styling and all) and QGIS hangs (then crashes) on an api call to Carto. I'm certain you know what I'm talking about ;) Happy to help implement this feature but may need a few pointers regarding approach.

Just want to ping up this issue. Seems like reopening a project and having it load is a critical feature for usability of the plugin
