CentOS build error on generating protobuf step in googleapis depenedency

Switched platforms recently from Ubuntu to CentOS. When I built orbit in Ubuntu there was no problem, but when I replicate the same steps in my CentOS box I seem to be stuck at building the googleapis dependency.

That means your compiler crashed. The log also tells me that it is using /usr/local/bin/gcc-10 as the compiler. Is that a custom version of GCC that you installed manually? My guess is that this compiler is not the one provided by CentOS (which I believe should be installed into /usr/bin).

I would try to change the CC and CXX environment variables in the ~/.conan/profiles/default_relwithdebinfo conan profile. They should point to the system compiler /usr/bin/gcc-10 (or /usr/bin/g++-10) respectively. This might help.

Another word of warning: I'm not sure which version of Qt gets packaged with CentOS nowadays. There is a chance that you will hit a road block because the Qt version might be too old.

Hi @beckerhe,

Thank you for looking into this. I actually missed the part where it checks /usr/local/bin/g++-10 as CXX compiler, I thought that using skipped means I won't bother using it.

The pre-installed CentOS version actually gives gcc 8.5 compilers. I installed gcc-10 using the official CentOS artifactory. I will try to change the environment variables in the conan profile and see if that fixes my build issue.

For the qt version I believe they have qt5 available in the artifactory, but not yet sure will have to check.
